Workers Compensation
Workers’ compensation, also known as workmans’ comp, is a state-mandated insurance program that provides compensation to employees who suffer job-related injuries and illnesses. In general, an employee with a work-related illness or injury can get workers’ compensation benefits regardless of who was at fault — the employee, the employer, a coworker, a customer, or some other third party. In exchange for these guaranteed benefits, employees usually do not have the right to sue the employer in court for damages for those injuries. Call us for more information or to obtain a quote.
It’s important for business owners to have Workers Compensation Insurance in case a worker is injured on the job or happens to get ill. Workers Compensation covers injuries and illnesses that happen on the job. It also covers lost wages and medical bills. These expenses would have to be paid out-of-pocket if there’s no coverage. Workers Compensation would not cover an employee if they weren’t acting within the scope of their employment. Simply put, it’s not optional. Businesses need a Workers Compensation policy in place once they hire their first employee.
